ONLINE RELEASE – ‘Pendulum’ created by female director Lauren Cooney released on Gunpowder and Sky’s Dust

Lauren Cooney’s transcendent film was inspired by Gareth Edwards’ Monsters and tells the story of a generation born knowing the end of the world is imminent. After enjoying an award-winning festival run this powerful film will be released this month and was created through improvisation and guerrilla filmmaking in the dangerous jungles of India.

Two friends seek spiritual salvation in India away from their hedonistic and disconnected lives, in advance of the impending collapse of the Cosmos.

Award-winning writer/director Lauren Cooney’s recent LBGTQI+ film Fluid premiered at the BAFTA-qualifying Underwire Film Festival. Lauren’s Shut Eye horror series was released on Gunpowder and Sky’s ALTER platform earlier this year. Currently, Cooney is developing several comedy-drama projects for TV, as well as her Jewish LGBTQI+ dramedy feature film Banging Down UnderPendulum is Lauren’s debut short film and was created as a proof of concept for Lauren’s upcoming feature in development, Retrieval.

Scott Michael Wagstaff is an award-winning actor/director/producer who recently won the Best Duo from the Actors Awards for his role of Robert Stevens in The Interview.  His notable work includes The Time of Their Lives alongside Joan Collins and BBC’s Doctors. Scott is currently in the early stages of development on a dystopian spiritual sci-fi project named Mediums (working title) and another that touches on the male suicide epidemic.

Producer Lisa Jacobi’s filmography includes working in post-production on several feature films including Working Title Films Entebbe (Rosamund Pike, Daniel Bruhl), King of Thieves (Michael Caine) and Johnny English Strikes Again (Rowan Atkinson). Lisa also played a key role in post producing the 2018 BAFTA-winning ground-breaking debut feature by Rungano Nyoni, I Am Not a Witch, which premiered at Cannes Director’s Fortnight and was the UK’s Foreign Language Oscar Nominee for 2019. Lisa is working alongside Cooney on Banging Down Under and Retrieval. Lisa also co-produced Pigs & Courgettes by Cannes Cinefondation L’Atelier-selected director Kyoko Miyake, and is currently working on Screen Australia-backed short film Girl and Body by Charlotte Mars (AACTA-nominated Gayby Baby).

Pendulum will be released on Dust on April the 28th, 2019
