Olmo Omerzu, is a writer and director from Ljubljana, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia). After graduating from FAMU, one of the oldest and best film schools in Czech Republic, he found success with his first two films premiering at Berlinale and San Sebastian film festivals respectively. With his third landing him six wins at the Czech Lions film awards, TIFF and a Czech Oscar Candidate.

Olmo Omerzu continues his exploration of family relationships and patricathy. With The Last Day of Patriarchy being no different. He was drawn to the concept of the film, which invites the audience to share in its moral dilemma. The film explores the moral dilemmas of granting a dying man’s wishes, which are done tastefully with humorous aspects.

The Last Day of Patriarchy premiered at IndyShorts as well as being screened at Guanajuato and El Gouna Film Festivals, Zagreb and Leuven International Short Film Festival and many more.
