Mercy is now available on ITunes, Amazon, and Spotify. All proceeds from the single will be going towards Macmillan Cancer Support & Chichester Cathedral Choral Foundation Fund.
Which charity did you choose to donate money to? Macmillian & Chichester Cathedral.
What is your favourite music genre? Rock, Folk, Country with an infusion of punk.
Who is your biggest idol? Bruce Springsteen & Woody Guthrie.
How do you make sure that you grow in your music? I’ve never had any musical lessons, I play the guitar for hours at a time every day and have been surrounded by some amazing musicians. I know that if a song I have written is going to carry any weight it needs to be strong enough to get attention. For the London Country album ‘Three Chords & The Truth’ I have written 67 songs over an 18 month period, 20 have made the album.
Who has been your biggest support? It sounds so cliché, but it is my family.
Where would you like to perform one day? Woodyfest which is a yearly festival in memory of Woody Guthrie, held in Okemah, Oklahoma.
Have you ever done something for another charity? Musically I have been involved with ClickSargent when ‘Wills & the Willing’ released ‘Skin’, which featured Didier Drogba & Michael Essie. Again when ‘Wills & The Willing’ played at The Edinburgh Festival, I got involved with the local homeless shelter and we raised some funds and as a poet I took part in SereanAids gigs at Brixton Academy for World Aids Day. I brought my girls up trying to teach them that you have to learn how to give, which is a lot harder to learn than learning how to take.
Who is your music crush? Broooooooooce.
Which song of yours describes your life the best? 21st Century Love Song
If you have to choose between being a poet or a singer-songwriter, which would you choose and why? No brainer a singer-songwriter, in the late 80’s and early 90’s I was lucky enough to do some radio & TV as ‘Wills the poet’ and for a long time I thought it would be enough to sustain that part of me that wanted to recognised as a wordsmith. However, the first time I heard ‘21st Century Love’ played on radio 2, was the moment I knew this is what I had been searching for, for the past 25 years. When I played in some festivals for the first time and when people were singing the lyrics, I knew that no matter how hard the journey, it was the path I have to tread.
